Maria (aka Possom Jewel) is currently on maternity leave from both the troupe and working as an occupational therapist. The style of dance that was first studied (at age 21) was Contemporary Dance. Has previous Flamenco dance experience for seven years, (until her feet began to protest!). Has studied a little Bhuto (in Japan), and some classical Indian dance. Maria also plays the piano beautifully! Studied and performed bellydance for 3 and half years with Jacqueline before forming Tribal Jewels in 2004.

Feels that ATS draws from previous dance experience, is both disciplined and elegant, and looks sensational. Most of all she enjoys the team work.

Maria & husband David are now the proud parents of a baby girl. Maria has multiple interests in the arts and loves watching TV Chefs & movies about food!
